Meet Amy, Queen Bee of the Sacred Hive
I was chuckling at what ChatGPT coined me as for funny/cute titles to Director/Founder of the Sacred Sisterhood Community. Although AI isn’t really my wheelhouse, we decided it would be fun to give it some prompts and see what it came up with. Knowing my love of bees, it only seemed somewhat perfect that I go with it. So here we are. Queen Bee of the Sacred Hive.
I would have never guessed in 2018 when I co-hosted my first retreat that 7 years later I would be HERE. Writing this. In this beautiful space & time, with these beautiful souls. It’s kinda surreal, kinda trippy, and way cool.
The first retreat I was involved in was so much work, and so much fun. You are kinda in a weird wired but tired mode, fueled by the love of the people around you. You float here and there, doing and enjoying, trying to sit in it and be present— as well as sit behind the scenes and get shit done. You need six arms, and the boundless energy of a puppy.
It still hasn’t changed. Each host involved puts their heart on the table, slaps it up with sweat and grit, and creates this thing… this thing that can’t be felt until you are there, in the moment. This beautiful experience that hits you the moment you walk into the door. The energy of it envelopes you and suddenly you realize the weekend you are about to embark upon will never be reproduced again.
Each retreat holds is own anonymity, held in its own sacred container. Although, it can’t be boxed in any way. It’s magic in the making, magic in the weekend, and magic carried forward. Community and love and sacredness and Divine and experience that lasts always.
I hold it dear so much. And will always cherish each of the retreats I have been involved in. The moments are forged in my heart. Branded still in time, holding memories of loved ones lost, rolling laughter and hard tears.
And that is why 7 years later I am here. And will be here as long as I am appointed to be.
I am supposed to be writing a bio… but I tend to never follow directions… so better get to it, so here it goes below :)
Five things about me:
I love to learn. It’s a bit of a running joke that I am the Jack of all trades, master of none. I have three college degrees, and many other certifications (yes, it’s expensive at times). Some people collect purses and shoes….my collection starts with curiosity, that sometimes floors me, humbles me, causes me to dive deep into rabbit holes, and learn more. My main jam is natural medicine, holistic lifestyles, and herbs. Many have asked me why I didn’t just become a doctor. Well, that wouldn’t have been as much fun.
If you are EVER hungry or need a dance party, I am your bestie. I love to cook, talk about food, eat food, talk about cooking food, talk about eating food, recipes, what you eat, what you cook, what your family eats, what your culture eats, how you cook your traditional foods. I am all about good food, some people say they are vegan, vegaratian, carnivore. I am a qualitarian. I feel food is sacred act to your body, so make it good. Food talk, I am there for it all. Also, IF you need to shake your booty, also count me in. This world is too serious not to dance every day. I say a good day starts with a good dance. And if you don’t like to eat or dance, just come over. I will convince you. :)
I am a mama to two free-spirited humans, a wife of 22 years, a mama to two dogs, one cat, 25 chickens, hundreds of fish and about 100,000 bees. Don’t know them all by name. Even call my kids my dog names sometimes. But I love them all so much. To the moon and back.
I am a Woo Woo Christian. Lots to unpack there, maybe a future blog? Jesus is rad, so are crystals, herbs, the moon and stars. My spirituality coexists with my Christianity. My spirituality reinforces my faith, and my faith reinforces my spirituality.
I try to feel the most alive I can every day. Some days it sucks. Some days it soars. But why waste it? I love the bookends of sunrises and sunsets. They tell this beautiful story of the start and end to your day.
I can’t wait to meet you all, hug you and have you part of my life and family. What a blessing. Till then, XOXOX Amy
