Meet Mel Cole, Spirit of Stillness + Reflection

Rooted in the Ozarks, I was raised in a small town with a big-hearted community and a family that believed in showing up for one another. That sense of connection shaped who I am—grateful, grounded, and guided by love and support.

From as early as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to people—their stories, their struggles, their light. My faith and spiritual curiosity have led me to listen deeply and hold space for others, knowing that each of us is walking a beautifully unique path. I’ve learned that sisterhood is the thread that weaves our journeys together, reminding us that we are never alone.

As a true Sagittarius, my fire fuels an adventurous and creative spirit that’s been the heartbeat of my life. In 2012, I founded Cole Collective—a portrait company dedicated to capturing the raw, authentic beauty of women, children and families and the sacred moments that connect us. You can explore more of my work at www.colecollective.community.

To be part of Sacred Sisterhood Retreats feels like coming home—a circle of belonging where every woman is welcomed as her truest self. Together, we rise, soften, grow, and evolve—guided by love, light, and the strength of community. I am so excited to be a part of this with all of you.

3 Things about Mel: AKA "Spirit of Stillness + Reflection”

1. On New Year’s Eve 20-years-ago, I was celebrating on 6th Street with my college best friend Jason and my brother, who had just finished serving in the U.S. Army. I was preparing to move to NYC when, at 2 a.m., barefoot and far from sober, I met my future husband right there in the middle of that chaotic Austin street. Chase has been the yin to my yang ever since, and I’m forever grateful.

2. I'm a mother to 3 beautiful and unique kiddos. My days, heart and calendar are always full! Jude, River, & Posey are all in grade school, and it's by far the busiest season of my life.

3. I have a lot of passions—reading, swimming, camping, and photography—but about 12 years ago, after my son Jude was diagnosed with autism, I dove deep into learning everything I could about it. That journey opened doors to my ongoing interest in mental health. I’ve been an advocate with the Central Texas Autism Society for many years, and I love connecting with others about all things mental health. Funny enough, though—I hate public speaking and much prefer meaningful small-group or one-on-one conversations. I’m definitely a behind-the-scenes kind of gal!
